The International Body Music MiniFest is coming to Athens for the first time! An international festival with participation from 10 countries around the world organized by PLAYGROUND for the arts and includes performances, talks, screenings, open mic and a rich program of seminars for adults and children.

From the Indonesian Kecak, the zapateado and palmas of flamenco, to the Afro-American hampone, stepping and many more genres, the body is the primary means of musical and dance expression par excellence. Today, the meeting of all of these with contemporary artistic approaches creates a new autonomous medium (body music), which uses exclusively the body to create music and dance.

The International Body Music MiniFest Athens ‘17 is part of a global action of IBMF** that takes place on 3 different continents and 2 different hemispheres. It is hosted by PLAYGROUND for the arts and offers five days full of body percussion, polyphonic singing, traditional dances, rhythm, improvisation, beatbox, circle singing, gumboot, etc.

A few words about IBMF

**The IBMF (International Body Music Festival) was founded in 2008 by Keith Terry and is a project of the international non-profit company Crosspulse. Based in San Francisco, Crosspulse aims to present, record and educate rhythmic arts from around the world, organizing festivals of both long and short duration (MiniFests), which include concerts, seminars, lectures and educational programs for adults and children.
